A Brief History Of The Science of Mind
In the middle of 19th century an American named Phineas Parkhurst Quimby (1802 - 1866), discovered a new healing method. He became the founding father of the New Thought movement.
Many philosophers, authors and modern thinkers have expanded the list of New Thought practitioners, some consciously, others as a natural conclusion of their thinking.
The list contains famous and less famous names, among them: Ernest Holmes (1887-1960), the founder of Science of Mind, Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 –1882), Charles Fillmore (1854 –1948), Thomas Troward (1847-1916), Joseph Murphy (1898 - 1981), Wayne Dyer, Louise Hays, Joel Goldsmith, Eric Butterworth, Corey van Loon, Manley Hall, Gerald Jampolsky and many others.

Dr. Ernest Holmes (1887 – 1960) – Founder of The Science of Mind. |
| It is very rare to meet someone who is a genius in many aspects of life and that he can touch entire generations in their thinking and have a influence on the generations to come.
Ernest Holmes was someone like that. He had little formal education, but by intensive studying of the ideas of various outstanding philosophers of his time, reading many books on the world’s religions, and by listening to his intuition, he became a bright example for future Science if Mind teachers and leaders.
Ernest Holmes began to teach in 1916 and founded the Institute of Religious Science. He authored the book “The Science of Mind” which explains the philosophy in detail. This book has since been published in many other languages including Spanish, French, German, Ukraine, and Dutch.
Ernest Holmes never claimed that he personally knew the truth, but applied the knowledge of world teachers and philosophers to his own ideas. He created a powerful technique called Spiritual Mind Treatment.
He knew that no one person can have the answers to all questions of life. “If anyone could know all the answers he would be God and that is impossible” he said.
Corey van Loon had the privilege to become a student of Ernest Holmes and this has made such an impression on his life, that he has devoted his life to teaching the principles of the Science of Mind. |
